Will--for his effort, physical-yet legal play, dedication to not concede possession of the ball, and his willingness to play wherever needed.
Sean--for his tireless effort, hustle, ability to move the ball, and speed in taking a shot.
The past three weeks, the XC teams have had numerous events.
Varsity- Anna S.
Anna charged the hills of Mt. Trashmore at the Norfolk Collegiate Invitational to run a season best time which she then broke again at the Milestat Invitational the following week.
JV- Megan B.
At the Norfolk Collegiate Invitational, Megan tackled the challenging course never giving up despite being sick for most of the week. Then she ran another outstanding race this past Saturday, against some tough competition.
The Lady Knights ran yesterday on a challenging course to compete in the State Catholic Championships. So, for this week, the athletes of the week are:
For varsity, Abby W.: Abby ran mentally strong and competitively to finish as the team’s number two runner.
And Makenzie P., Makenzie ran an incredible race yesterday receiving a 6th place medal in the Junior Varsity race. In doing so, she earned a personal best time
JV Boys XC--Ethan S.
Ethan found his stride shattering his season best time this year by over 4 minutes on an extremely tough course full of hills.
Varsity Boys XC--Ryan H.
Ryan ran the fastest time on the team this year at 18:05, placing 5th overall at the Norfolk Collegiate Invitational and leading the boys team to a 2nd place finish.
At the State Catholic Meet yesterday, Ethan once again received Athlete of the week for his performance, which was his best for the season. And for the varsity team, Thomas H. helped lead the team to a second place victory!
Boys Volleyball--Quinn E. is the Boys' Volleyball athlete of the week. He played in four matches and demonstrated leadership as the setter Saturday at the Endless Summer Boys Volleyball Tournament at PC. His hard work and positive attitude toward his team and coaches demonstrated his maturity and leadership. He represented PC with honor!
JV Volleyball: Hailey G. led the team with 3 aces and 16 assists in Thursday's win against Norfolk Christian.
Varsity Girls VB--Baileigh E.
The Lady Knights clinched the Conference Regular season Championship with a 25-9, 25-9, 25-14 victory over conference rival Hampton Roads Academy. The Lady Knights improved their record to 25-5 overall and 10-0 in the Conference. The Lady Knights were led by the Athlete of the week, Senior Baileigh E. with 12 kills, 14 digs, 2 aces. Other notable performances include senior Kailer L. with 37 assists, 11 digs, 4 aces. Sophomore Madison C. had a career high in kills with 14 and added 6 blocks and 6 digs. Juniors Grace H. and Taylor T. both had fantastic hitting nights. The Lady Knights are currently ranked number one in the VISAA Division 2 and have held that spot for 5 weeks.
