Recent graduates Charlie Ruble and Kyle Miller and upcoming senior Alex May are delegates in this year's "Sister Cities of Newport News" trip to Greifswald, Germany. Greifswald became a sister city of Newport News in 2007. It is located in the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, formerly part of East Germany. The young men will each live with a different German family and participate in a cultural exchange for 2 weeks. They will attend Jahngymnasium (their high school) in Greifswald for the first week and then visit other cities such as Rugen and Hamburg, and will also spend 5 days in Berlin touring museums and other cultural sights.
PC has been participating in the cultural exchange of students coming from Greifswald since 2014. Frau Van Eck, PC's German instructor, has cultivated a friendly relationship with the leaders of the German cultural exchange program and has hosted them at PC in the past.
Charlie, Kyle & Alex are with a group of 11 other students from Menchville and Warwick high schools.
