Joey continued his trend of working hard inside against bigger, stronger competition. Joey dove for loose balls, boxed out on a regular basis, took a charge, and ended the game with a bloody nose. CVHAA is ranked in the top 10 in the national homeschool rankings. The Knights were led in scoring by junior Titus L in all three games with totals of 22, 19, and 16 points respectively. Titus, senior Justice S, and sophomore Detrez P were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Knights are back in action Thursday night at home against Kecoughtan High school in an exhibition contest. Tip time is set for 6:30.

Athletes of the Week, 11/8/17

Posted On: 11/13/2017 2:43 PM

Girls Volleyball: Grace H.
Grace help lead the Lady Knights to their 3rd consecutive Conference Championship last week. She ended the week with 20 kills, 31 digs, 3 blocks, 2 aces, and a 98% passing rating with only 5 receiving errors in 3 matches.

Baileigh E.- 1st Team All-Conference and Conference Tournament MVP
Anna D.- 1st Team All-Conference and Conference All-Tournament
Jade A.- 2nd Team All-Conference and Conference All- Tournament

The Lady Knights XC team finished 7th overall with some great performances.
Girls Varsity XC--Lauren T.
Lauren earned All Conference Honors this past Friday at the TCIS Championships. Despite being ranked 24th going into the meet, Lauren finished 12th overall. She ran a confident and competitive race from the beginning and finished strong beating out competition that had beaten her in a previous race.

Girls JV XC--Cassie M.
Running her first race in five weeks, Cassie came back with a vengeance. Despite the long rehab from injury, she tackled the TCIS course to run her best in support of her teammates. Her efforts paid off, finishing as the team’s number 6 runner.

The Knights faced stiff competition from Norfolk Academy at TCIS. In the first mile Norfolk Academy charged ahead of us. But just as they've done all season, the Knights ran smarter, harder races than their competition, passing everyone in the end, and packed four runners into the top fifteen to take first place in the race. Andrew V. took home the individual championship and he, along with Thomas H., Aaron K. and Matthew M., received all-conference honors.

Varsity Boys XC--Patrick Gillian, who anchored the team as the fifth man.
Our top four outpaced our competition, but the way cross country is scored is that the lowest score wins, and there was a big gap after our fourth man. With 2/3rds of the race to go, there were enough runners ahead of our fifth man that we very well might have lost. But Patrick closed that gap, catching two runners from Norfolk Academy and a slew of runners from other schools, saving the day and helping secure the victory.

JV Boys XC--The JV team easily took first place in the JV race, led by JV athlete of the week Rahmin Norwood.
When Rahmin came around the corner in hot pursuit of the race leaders, it electrified the crowd, and coach could hear people chanting his name from all the way across the field. His epic 100 meter sprint to the finish line hints at great things to come for this budding running star. The only thing that tops his excellent performance is the excellent backflip he did after the race was over. If you'd like to see it for yourself, just ask any cross country runner who captured it on a cellphone.

Growing as an all-around player and positively impacting the offensive drives, Will made great contributions on and off the field. Will has taken 41 shots on goal, had 13 assists, and made 4 goals during the regular season. Awesome job!

A Freshman and new to the sport, Aira has developed an intuitive feel for the court , especially when playing doubles ! Her net game is aggressive, fearless and pretty accurate in placement against the opposing team !

Girls cross country Junior Varsity- Jordan A
After rehabbing an injury for approximately a month and a half, Jordan returned to the racing field yesterday. Her return came on the toughest course of the season, but Jordan handled it like a champ. She led the JV team and had the 6th fastest team time of the day.

Varsity- Abby W
Abby showed great mental fortitude on a very hilly course and against very stiff competition. Her finishing time was the closest to her personal best which helps to narrow the gap in the top 5. Abby finished as the team’s number 4.

Boys cross country varsity:Matthew M
Matthew's been recovering from an illness for the past few days, but has been so dedicated that he's even shown up to practice to support his teammates when he wasn't able to run himself. And he turned in an absolutely heroic performance at the race, running an 18:27 and helping his team to take home another VCL trophy and put another banner up on the wall.

JV cross country: Cameron S
Cameron's another one who's been battling injuries since the start of the season, but has proven time and time again that he's one of the hardest working and most dedicated runners on the team. His fearlessness in tackling the hills yesterday earned him a scoring position on the team yesterday for the first time, helping the JV boys to their achievement of taking third place in the JV VCL.
